Nice work, Kristin! That looks very good. You are a skillful builder. I guess Norwegians have the dna for wood working. Are you going to put it on a post or what?
Thanks Priscilla
I think I am going to just keep this one indoors, I made it out of aspen wood which is kind of thin so it would probably fall apart outside and I did not make it like a true purple martin house, they have little cubbies inside the real ones.
I just do this stuff for fun! Someday I do want to either make or buy a nice purple martin house and see if I can get them to come live in my yard, now that would be fun. The store bought ones are very expensive
I love the martin house! If you make me one out of stronger wood....hmmm, let's see..I'll paint you another picture of your choice plus pay you for materials. Or if you're into the checkerboard houses like me I'll checkerboard your martin house for you...The punch needle is lovely as well you crafty broad!
P.S. I've seen that little willow tree in the picture of the birdhouses display at Old Mill Pond, it would look perfect next to your martin house.
Ok Ok I will make you a martin house, now that I have one under my belt and know what I am doing, Tonight I am painting it white. Yours will have smaller openings, I made mine a bit too big. Ummm a new John Sliney would be nice..... I'll get back to you on that one, and I have the wood bucket I want you to put it on already. More pictures later, back to painting
Wow, Kristen - both projects look fine!! I really like the punch needle piece. I can see it takes a lot of "punching", for sure.
What kind of saw did you use to cut the pieces of the bird condo?
I have a band saw, table saw and a chop saw
The wood I buy (aspen)for this isn't too long so I don't have to cut much.
