I put up a finch feeder, late in the season because my old feeder broke, but I have a lot of yellow finches, this is the first I had a purple one that I have seen. Nyer or Thistle seed is SO expensive, so when the squirrels wreck the feeder for finches I get pretty angry

I envy you and Cheryl being able to feed your birds at least when the bears aren't around. I had to stop putting out seed for the birds in this area because of the cats which are around all year long - the birds were being put too much ar risk.
Also I wanted to mention - your blog header picture of that little bird is so delightful! When you decide to change it out, you need to crop it and put it in the line of little pictures in your right-hand column so that we can still see it.
My cats don't really have much of an interest in catching birds, mice, yes but those are usually in my house and I want them caught. THe bird feeders are on my deck and my cats sit out there for a little while but not long enough to chase or catch any birds.
I love that bird picture at the top Biddie! I will move it as you suggested, good idea.
Begorrah! Things are looking green here despite your snow.
New visitors at my bird feeder: tufted titmice and downy woodpecker. Hadn't seen them all winter; but mourning doves have gone away. All's changing.
I too think that header picture is a wonderful shot :)
I've been told the bears are out and about in Granby, so ours won't be far behind. I think I'll fill my feeders one more time and then that's it for the season. Have you heard of any being spotted on your side?
I have heard they are out down in the city, Granby and Simsbury, have not seen any yet up our way, I will take some rides around Legeyt rd this weekend and see if I can find that big old guy I saw last year in early spring.
And thanks, that birdie with the bloomers is a cutie
Wow, those are pretty birds. We just have the boring yellow finches :)
