You were right!! They are adorable! Just don't corner one...then they aren't so cute. Are you going to relocate them?
Good job getting a picture of them...were you sitting out there?
It was like I was in a movie and the scary dude came, I got all excited, ran into the house and then went back out the other door so I could get pictures, I didn't do so well taking them but now at least I have proof. Two are about the same size and one is smaller, I thought I saw a real tiny one but if there are small babies, they left them in there and went out hunting
I'm bringing them over to West Hartland tomorrow night.
BINGO! CONGRATULATIONS!! GREAT PICTURES!!!
Are you going to let them be? They worked awfully hard to make that home ....
I was hoping there were more so I could make a fur coat for the winter, can I borrow your gun???
Just kidding, I am not going to do anything right now but I am worried about my cats.... Raccoons seem to have the rabies stigma
I wouldn't worry about your cats - just make sure that they have all their shots.
For years, I've had cats and raccoons side by side on my porches - the cats always seem smart enough to not try to challenge the raccoons - the cats seem to know to back off.
Every evening, at dusk, I take cat food over to the old cottage at Possum Hollow - I spread the food out on the back porch. The feral cat that lives under part of the cottage usually comes right out to eat. Then I go tend to the tropical plants. Before I leave, I always sneak a peek out on the back porch - last Thursday, the feral cat had finished eating and was sitting to the side watching a raccoon that was taking its turn eating - they were only about 6-7 feet apart.
Oh thats good to know, I was wondering why my cats were just laying out in the driveway at night and not too far from the hole under the shed!
In all these years, I've never had an incident where a raccoon attacked a cat. Dogs are another case all together - a dog will go chase the raccoon and if the raccoon can't escape, it can really injure the dog.
P.S. the cats seem to like to watch but don't interfere.
Chicken wire. You've got to cover the hole and sink the wire deep in the ground or they will get in again. And again...
