Pumpkin launching?? That sounds really fun! My daughter would have loved something like that.

I love your pictures of the fall trees.

Orange County is on fire right now. We had a dry, windy, weekend. Fires are everywhere. In fact, I can hear a fire truck coming up the road. I'm hoping we can go home..

Hi Girls,
Yep we have pumpkin launching, living in redneck territory that's what we do for fun! It was oK Cheryl, it's kind of getting old but they sell food now for the Lions Club. There was lots of people too.
Fires are scary, I hope everything is Ok out there for you

I love pumpkin pie!!! But I think that the organizers should set up a new category in their annual pumpkin launching - but wings on them and see if they can fly - even put a little motor inside the pumpkin - that should be interesting to watch. Maybe even another category for the fastest "boat" pumpkin ....

Denise - those fires from the Santa Anna Winds are really terrifying!! I hope your area and home is spared. The scenes that I've seen on the news are terrible!

Hi Biddie,

Thank you for the well wishes! :o)

I went out at lunchtime. It was like a foggy day on Mars: Hazy, orange, dry and blowy..

I heard that 2 or 3 of the fires were caused by arson. Ugh! ..

I am SO glad I work 2 miles from home. The freeways are a nightmare.

What beautiful pics! So you have a place in Speculator? That's about an hour north east from me.
Keep snappin' those gorgeous pics and thanks for stoppin' by my blog!

Thanks for thinking of me! So far so good in Lake Forest, though, it's pretty smoky outside. There are a couple of fires in the city next door (a couple miles away) so we'll see how the day goes. That's a heavily wooded/canyon area, so they're getting it pretty hard. Plus, it's suposed to be windy & in the 90's. Aye Carumba!

Lots of friends have lost homes. One friend's parents had to evacuate so quickly, they didn't pack anything, so everything's lost. Not only that, but they didn't know what to do with their horses, so they just set them free. Can horses find their way home?

I heard "our" fire was started by someone, who stole a vehicle, and then set it on fire out in the canyon. It's burned about 15,800 acres so far. If I had a decent camera, I'd post pictures. Maybe I can get a disposable at the store..

Lots of schools are closed so the kids are happy. This is the closest they will get to a "snow day".

Oh that is really scary, I have never known anyone that was affected by anything like that, it hits harder when you do.
The horses we used to have got loose a bunch of times and they can find thier way home but I don't know about this if they had to run far away to get away from the fires and they are probably really spooked. It could happen I suppose they may make it back home.

I sure hope they catch the jerk that caused this big mess.
