And the red-tailed hawk doesn't have a red tail until it is an adult, so yours could be a juvenile red-tail. Hawks are so difficult to figure out, aren't they?
There is at least two families of red-shouldered hawks that live over at Possum Hollow. (At least that's what I think they are.) Quite frequently when I walk over there, especially towards dusk, they will give out a warning cry and sail off away from me - I'm assuming that I've disturbed their hunting .... I've seen shreds of bird feathers, mice, moles and small rabbits, generally in one location.
