It's a new year....

I am going to try and get out and see people more. I am always working and staying home, I do go out a lot but always to the same place and see the same people. Not that I don't like those same people, but a friend of mine just lost her boyfriend after he was sick for only a little over a month. She kept saying last year, come over for a glass of wine and hang out with us, yes I will...... I never did. I went to his wake the other day and I could barely look at her, she was so shaken and looked lost and said to us, Now what am I supposed to do? It made me cry to see how sad she was to lose her boyfriend and best friend. So I plan on bringing her a bottle of wine with a note and a request for her to call me to come over whenever she needs company and I am going to go, no matter what.

There we have it, I had no New years resolution but this will be mine now. Do you have any that you would like to share?

What a very personal experience to share! Sometimes life comes up and slaps us in the face to make us realize the little things that keep us from sharing more fully in other people's lives.

I have a couple of resolutions that I've made but I'm not brave enough to make them public - I need to quietly work on them - behind the scenes, so's to speak.

Years ago, when I was still living in NJ, I had a friend from work that was in her 40's when she found her first boyfriend. He was 10 years older than her. They had only been together for about 6 months when he died suddenly from a heart attack. She was devastated and had a great deal of trouble wanting to live after that. Maybe the time I spent with her after he died was my greatest act of friendship. It wasn't easy - it took a long time before she bounded back into life again.

Your gesture of spending time with her was a very generous thing to do.

P.S. I like your new theme - it's pretty - your artist eye picked a winner!!

This couple had met I guess 5 or 6 years ago, I am not totally sure, I met her through another friend, she was just so sad looking, he was 58 and she is probably 48, I thought of my Dad, he died at 59, I thought of me and Ray, if that happened to me, I would be devestated too. So here's to a brandy new year!!

What a sad story. We often learn these lessons too late.

Where did you get the curlycue pattern on both sides?

I see. I went to Webfetti. Maybe I'll work up the courage to jazz up my blog. But not today.

That is a sad story, I'm sure your presence and concern to your friend will be an invaluable support.

My resolutions...well, I think I need to battle against my hermit tendencies, and I know I need to battle against my weight..that's a good start anyways.

Cheryl that is two things! And you are not a hermit!

Kristen, right after I went to that site you told me about my computer got much slower, so I ran my SuperAntiSpyware program (gets the bad stuff out) and it listed 893 infected items! (I usually get about 35 or 40 when I run it.) They seem to be spyware. I'm wondering if anyone who visits your blog may be picking up spyware and cookies. Just thought I'd let you know. Whole bunches of them were named "MyWebSearch..." They were everywhere--in Memory, Registry, and Files. I also ran Malwarebytes and they came up with 257 objects infected (usually zero)

thanks for the heads-up. I didn't run my virus scanner et. al. yesterday as I usually do on Sunday mornings. Better do it today ....

oh sorry I am an infected mess on my blog but I have been to lots of other blogs that use the same thing. My computer is not slow at home or work.

we run a program at work every day and I did it again and nothing showed up.

That's good.

I didn't get anything unusual when I ran my various PC virus, webbots and malware programs after looking at the backgrounds website.

Priscilla - could some one else be using your computer when you aren't at your station? That was an awful lot of virus' etc.

Hey Cooty Girl :P

Just kidding. My computer seems to be fine, no problems here.

That's weird. Maybe the bad stuff came from somewhere else. I had a signed comment to SBDP the other day and it looked harmless though it did have a website at the bottom. I clicked "Publish" but never saw it on any of my posts. I went back a couple of weeks: nothing. Did Blogger weed it out? A mystery. I ran the anti-malware programs a few times and all is well now.
Nobody else uses my computer at home, unless the chipmunks have found a way to get inside.
