My new (old) granny cupboard

Our house used to be my granny and grampa s house. I lived across the street with my parents And I was here quite often. My grandparents sold it and moved in with my aunt, the guy that bought it gutted the house and it's not a anything like it used to be, except the dining room is in the exact same place. She used to have 2 cupboards in the dining room which are long gone. A friend of mine was updating his daughters house and tore out this cabinet to be thrown out. He gave to me and I couldn't have been happier. I painted it and had to replace some glass on the top ( the top is not installed yet) door. We bought new hinges and knobs to be installed soon but these pictures show the transformation so far

That's lovely. You do nice work. We had 2 corner cupboards on our dining room when I was a child. Brings back memories. They are such a good use of space.

Thanks P! From what my sister tells me, which I Have forgotten, my grandmother had 2 in this dining room too. I got it for free but we've been joking, it's cost us $500 so far, I had to have the room painted, the baseboard heat cut and some glass pieces made, and lights for inside, but I don't care because I just love it there!

It looks just perfect there!! Had to smile that you had to do so much side work but it was worth it, for sure.

You gave me a good idea for an empty, otherwise useless corner in my dining area ~~ I'm going to look for a corner cabinet to go in it ~~ with lights like yours!!

I love this cabinet, and the fact that it got me to clean out the clutter I had hung on the walls in this room. it's clean and neat now. Biddie I hope you can find one, old or new they look great. I'm sure you will be able to locate one, check craigs list or maybe a home remodeler can keep an eye out for you if someone wants removed from a house they are fixing up, thats how I got this one
