Kristen - it's funny that you mentioned "hyena" - when I was playing with the picture in my graphics editor, I first thought of a hyena also but they aren't found here (at least I don't think so).
I tried to match ear profiles with canines in my mammal ID book. The ears don't seem pointed enough to be a coyote. It doesn't seem big enough to be a wolf. The closest thing that matched the ears was a fox ....
Did anyone else have any ideas on your facebook entry?

I thought it was a hyena the first time I saw the dark one when I enlarged it!

I am pretty sure it's a deer, well thats what I was photographing any ways! how this creature came about,I have no idea!!
