What are they, Kristen? Young mergansers? I think the 2nd pic is a Mottled Duck. Or a female Mallard.

They little ones were with a mom merganser, I forgot to put up a picture of the mother. They swam right up to the shore and went crazy gobbling up something while she swam away and then they all took off after her.
The other duck hung around for a long time, snacking on some pretzels we threw to it, we were trying to get it to take from our hands but the 12 inches rule was his limit, he wouldn't come any closer. he flew off after his lunch and we never saw him again, he sure was cute, I have a video of him too, maybe I"ll try to upload it.
3rd pic -- Oh, right. That's a female Common Merganser. We have the other two kinds (Hooded and Red-Breasted) around here but the Common is a but rare. You're getting to be quite the nature photographer.
Thanks!
I added the 3rd pic to show you, I have never run into these kinds of ducks. Of course the local friend we have that fish's said he hates them , they eat all the fish
Lets see, how many million years have birds been eating fish?
