By Apple Tree :(

It's such a messy tree so it's time to part ways with it..... Apples land all over our cars, then they turn to mushy sludge in the fall, yuk, I have not seen any deer or other wildlife except those coons around eating apples so I don't think they will miss it

I always feel sad about having to cut down trees - especially ones like that ol' grandfather apple tree. The coons will miss the apples, for sure.

There are 3 very old pear trees inside the yard fence over at Possum Hollow - they are obviously at the end of their life cycles - every year there is more dead wood in them and they are putting out less and less leaves but they still make pears. The local wild critters all feast on those pears - I've seen armadillos, possums, racoons and deer all eating them - so I'm reluctant, year by year to cut them down. Maybe I can plant some fruit trees outside the yard fence that will just be for them. Then I can plant some inside the fence that will be for 2-legged critters .... then I can cut down the 3 old trees with a clear conscience.

I feel the same way, I have been fighting Ray for years about this tree but it is ruining the roof and he wants to put that addition on and it will have to go for sure then so he is preparing for that next year I think we will get that new bedroom and garage he is hoping for. I wish it was planted somewhere else in our yard and not so close to the house, and It's just too darn big to move! You have a good idea though, I will plant some new fruit tree's too

You must have a lot of yellow jackets when the ripe fruit is on the ground. Goodbye Y.J.s

Apple wood makes good firewood, I hear.

Oh that's too bad...but I know how messy apple trees can be! They also provide good ammunition for crabapple wars :) The kids, Dave & I had a few of those over the years !

Now I have to make sure the bullies don't eat the fallen apples. Dopes!
