This side of the house will maybe get some more sun since we cut the tree down. Maybe grass will grow and the mold will stop growing on the siding. The birds are a bit confused where the tree went
This is what's left of it
This is a big old tree that was infested with bugs or ants but there was always sawdust on the ground underneath it
Any one want to see if they can figure out how old it is?
It's a really big log

Wow, that's a big un. Too bad you had to cut it down, but it's better to do that than have it crash through your roof!
I'm guessing 75 years old.
All trees have life cycles and eventually have to come down - it's sort of sad that maybe this one had to come down sooner than it might have otherwise - BUT in the face of possible disease and how close it was to your house, it definitely was better to bring it down now rather than wait for it to crash into your house!!!!
And look at all the firewood you have there .... The work crew did a good job on cleaning up all the debris.
We took down 3 in total. The biggest one was a really old cherry tree, or thats what ray called it, it never produced any cherries. One was leaning over our power lines and was eventually going to fall over and the one closest to the house has been there since I was a kid and my grampa had a swing on it. The birds liked that one because it was near my feeders but it was a helicopter tree and those things got All over my house inside and out , in the gutters, what a mess, plus it was shading the house and we had to clean off mold all the time over on that side.
