Eat a darn sandwich then maybe you wouldn't be so cold...Ok, sorry, yep, just jealous over your skinny butt. Anyhoo, nice bug picture!!
Every year I get a huge visitation of dragonflies...I love to sit on my porch and watch them dip, pirouette, and hunt all those nasty wee bugs. They are good bugs indeed!
I hardly ever get them, but I did have a humming bee. those are really neat to watch, they like something in my garden, I can't remember what it is now, maybe the stargazer lily which is not yet ready, they takes so long to come out
Hey - that's a female Whitetail - so named because the male really does have a white tail. They are in the dragonfly and damselfly family. The reason I know is because there is a lot of them here and I've looked them up in my insect field guide before. We also have some that have white on their wings where the black is on this one. Cheryl is right - they are good predators on other bugs .... and they love having a small pond to lay their eggs in.
OK, the professor is over-and-out...
Too bad I don't have a small pond but there is one across the street so maybe that's where she came from.
