I'm sorry for my spaciness but what lake is this? Your little picture to the right looks like a view from the south end of Lake George looking north towards the Narrows.
That momma duck must have "adopted" some baby ducks - I don't see how she could have possibly laid enough eggs to have hatched all those babies by herself.
I am not at all familiar with Lake George, our lake is called Lake Pleasant in the Village of Speculator, NY.
That momma duck had a weird bunch of feathers on her head too from what I see in the blown up picture, I wonder what kindo of ducks they are. I couldn't get close enough
