Help - your pictures aren't showing ....
It took the squirrels two years to discover the bird feeders here - now they are all over them also.
Ah, now they are showing up!
A tip because the squirrels can make the jump from the ground to your flange and I have also seen them climb up my poles:
Take a paper towel and put some vaseline (or some kind of super slick, harmless stuff) on both the bottom part of the pole and on the top part of your flange - that will slow them down some.
Squirrels are devilishly clever - I saw a documentary made in England some years ago - a person had setup a complicated obstacle course to his bird feeder but it only took a couple of days for the persistent squirrels to figure the maze out ....
Yes thanks for that advice, and I can totally relate to that last comment, I bet in a day or two they will be up there eating my food again but I will try the vaseline for sure. I read on the packaging that you should not put within 10 feet of a tree or such so they can't jump, I wouldn't doubt they get on my roof and jump off two stories to get to the food!!
Oh the bear will have fun with that pole!! I was amazed at how he twisted mine into pretzels...stupid bears.
It survived the night!!! The other day I came home in the dark to a possum under my deck, he scared me half to death, boy are they ugly
Did he hiss at you? I actually like them, growing up in Texas you'd see them balanced precariously upon the power lines. Careful with your cats though, they can bite pretty hard.
no hissing , I think I scared him too, he just wandered off. The weird thing, Harley was outside right near where he was, I think I avoided a potential fight
