Hang in there - I'm afraid that those prices are going to continue to climb - they will force all of us to change the ways we live our lives ....
Think of all those fans no longer going to the race tracks to watch the NASCAR races - they will have to watch them on TV - then guess what! We're probably have to pay to watch the races (just like some of the other sports venues), so those race track owners can get some $$ out of races to cover the loss of revenue. Phooey!!
Sixty-eight bucks at one time! Wow! I have a thing about not shelling out more than 20 dollars at a time, so I pump up to my birth year (19.61 or so), but now I'm having to go to the gas station three times a week. Soon it will be daily!
I haven't noticed any fewer cars on the road, though.
I have a bike, but the grocery store is 3 miles away, uphill, and work is down a big highway, so I'm stuck with driving (which I like to do anyway)
Vanna White has a 35 gallon tank - it hasn't been filled up in months. Since she only gets 11 - 14 MPG, I only drive her when it's absolutely necessary.
Like the drive down to Panama City earlier this week - it's about 36 miles one way. That's about 3 gallons to go one way, 6 gallons for the round trip. That was in the vacinity of $22.00 just for the abortive trip to repair my old mower .... I'm too far out in the middle of nowhere to ride my bike just to go to the local store to get some bread - not to mention that there isn't any safe bike routes here - the roads are too dangerous with all the stupid wanna-be race-driving fools out here ...
I must have a 17 gallon tank in my 2004 Nissan Altima because I was cutting it way to close last night, from now on, I am going to fill up at the 1/2 way mark, everybody is telling me it's better that way, less painful in the pocketbook, whats the difference, it's still way too much. This tank will last me 1 week if I don't go driving anywhere I don't need to, this is getting very sad to me especially with boating season upon us, I thought last summer was expensive, this one is going to be a killer!
Holy Moly! I think that's more than it is here!
I should just buy a golf cart and drive it everywhere. If I could find a flat-bed golf cart, I think I could be good to go. Everything I need is within 2 miles of my house, including my job.
