I'm not sure what that first plant is...maybe let it go to bloom, then if it's a weed get rid of it?
I've realized this spring that I should have been more diligent about marking the plants...I thought I would remember everything I planted but I don't.
The blue flower, maybe a campanula of some sort? It's pretty non the less :)
yes, I think the first one is a weed but I agree it would be better to let it bloom and then identify it.
I think the blue flower is a Lobelia.
Good Morning .. by my very much non-gardener's eye, the plant in your first picture looks too full, happy and benign to be a weed. Weeds seem to be leggier and tougher-looking ... (how's that for an assessment?)
I think the wait-n-see approach is a good one.
Weeds in good soil can become extremely lush.

Priscilla - what made you think this was the wild lettuce plant? From the couple of pictures I found of the wild/opium lettuce, the leaves seem to be quite different.
But Kristen, there seems to be a different kind of plant growing at the mystery plant's base. You are going to have to put plant labels beside each plant with the name and source on it so that you can back track if you come up with some wierd plant like this ....
I started leaving the labels in the ground near the plant this year, I just don't remember where or when this one came from , it't getting huge, I'll go take more pictures before I go to work today
