We stopped at our friend Charlies house yesterday and he was showing us that he hung up the birdhouses I gave him over the years, this one green one hadn't been taken down and cleaned yet, he went to take a peep inside and this guy came flying out of it, nearly grabbed onto his face and clung to the tree. I have never seen one in person in the wild.

Oh that must have been hysterical!! I read somewhere that Connecticut has a huge population of flying squirrels, but I've never seen them wild. They are so darn cute, aren't they! Pete's sister had a nest of them once inside her house, for awhile she had baby flying squirrels running amok all through out her house.
Did Charlie leave the house up? It would be neat if the squirrel nested in it.
yes it is still up and she went from one house to another like she was checking them out, I think she is going or already had babies
I absolutely love flying squirrels!! When I first moved here, there was one that lived way up in the tree here in the front yard. It was so secretive that I rarely saw it - it only came out at night.
